Poker Profiles: Marcel Luske

Marcel Luske is a celebrity in his own right. His imminent skills and stable hands have earned him celebrity status even when he is far out from where the action is. Marcel's successful Poker career is made possible by the power of mass media. Since televised Poker was introduced, many aspiring players from anywhere in the world were given equal opportunities to shine. Good thing, Marcel was all up for it!

Marcel is from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, his native land. He previously worked as a salesman but decided to quit his job when Poker showed up offering more attractive opportunities. Marcel's first try at going big time in Poker was unsuccessful yet he never gave up. Both his appearances at the Late Night Poker television show did not make any fruitful endings but he still chose to move on this time entering the elite World Series of poker tournament.

Marcel finished 14th place at the 2003 WSOP and 10th the following year in the same tourney. Those finishes are definitely not impressive enough but it did gave Marcel a light of hope that he can fare better next time. Although he is still waiting for his time to shine at the WSOP, he is certainly not short of blessings to be thankful for. For one, Marcel's pocket is $3.4 million fatter these days. His cash ins at the WSOP, the European Poker Tour, and the Hall of Fame Poker Classic sure made him rich.

Although he is yet to find a mark that would cement his presence in the gambling circuit, Marcel is not wasting any time to lend other aspiring Poker players a hand. His business nowadays involves mentoring soon-to-be Poker greats like David Williams and Kirill Gerasimov. Marcel also founded the group Circle of Outlaws, which basically promotes newbie players. Starting 2007, he has also been busy with a show titled Veronica Poker.

The basic premise of the show is that two Dutch celebrities must learn from Marcel and his partner, Noah Boeken. In the end, the celebs are put against each other in a one-on-one battle that will out the winner through an important event in Las Vegas. Marcel also spearheads Poker Kings NL, a show which follows his exploits in the tournament circle.

Aside from Poker, Marcel is also a certified karate buff. In fact, he is a black belt. It is truly amazing to find out that poker players are able to live beyond the borders of the table.
