Kinds of Calling in Texas-holdem

Calling in poker is a player placing money for the pot and matching it with a bet before getting his turn. Blinds are used for texas-holdem games. The smaller blind dictates half bets and the bigger are for the full bets. These bets should be used only in live games to be use with two hands. Players need to call either of the blinds before getting their turn. Most of the time players end up losing because of having many hands. Having more than two hands mean the player will also call more than the usual. Choosing hands is important for a texas-holdem player. There are things to consider before entering your hands. You need to consider how strong the hand is, the position you are holding and the number of players who have given their entries. The last thing to consider is the raises made by the other players. Texas-Holdem is a game based on positions.

The goal of every player in texas-holdem is to have a strong hand as soon as possible and the earlier the better. There is a common term known as limping where a player enters his hand with a bet considered to be blind. This is also risky because another player can take that bet and make a raise. When this is the scenario the player that limped should raise instead of folding. The first thing players must before entering a hand is asking their selves if they can take the call when another player raise. When a player feels that the hand is not strong enough he should just dump the hand. Calling earlier in the game is really risky. Calling in a later time is better because you could have possibly gained more insight with what the other players have making your hand stronger.

Kinds of Calls:

1. Cold Call - This is calling the first bet with a raise before the player gets his turn. Players should avoid cold calling if he feels his hand is not really strong. It is harder to call another player's raise than initiating it.

2. Calls on the flops - Flops actually define a player's hand. The reason for this is because usually the hand is almost complete at the point of the flop. It is best to consider folding at that point.

3. Call on the turn - Players get their turn and they see they have only has a couple over cards so the player will fold because the player does not possess a flush combination or a straight one.

4. Call for the river - Players should not call with a poor hand when they reach the point of the river. They can either fold but folding means losing the money. However folding is not so bad as calling with a poor hand.

Calling is not easy at all but you have to do this if you feel you have the advantage. Learning the right time to call is the first step.
